Can I buy Admiralty Charts and Publications directly from the UKHO?
Products can now be bought online from the Admiralty shop as well as from Admiralty approved retailers or chart agents, all of which are listed on the site. We provide bulk supplies of all Admiralty products to authorised Admiralty Chart Distributors worldwide. Does the UKHO have an Online Product Catalogue?
The first ever web-based catalogue featuring information on ALL Admiralty Products was launched in March 2004. Users can access the Online Catalogue completely free of charge through this website


I wish to purchase a specific chart. How can I tell what charts are currently available?
The UKHO's Chart Availability List is now available on this website and includes every Standard Navigational Chart in the Admiralty series. You can use the list to check chart availability, latest edition date, scale, format (paper / ARCS) and chart history.


How many products in the Admiralty series are available in electronic format?
  There is an ongoing programme of digital product development at the UKHO which means the range of Admiralty Electronic Products and Services is constantly growing. Two types of Admiralty Chart are currently available in digital format. Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) are official vector format electronic charts designed to meet SOLAS chart carriage requirements. Admiralty Raster Charts (ARCS) are official raster format electronic charts provided in two services designed for both the SOLAS and leisure market.

Two Admiralty publications are now available in digital format. TotalTide is an award-winning global tidal prediction package for professional SOLAS mariners. The Admiralty Digital List of Lights is now available on CD-ROM and includes over 70,000 lights and fog signals worldwide. It is available by annual subscription and includes an automatic weekly updating service.

Can I access Notices to Mariners using the UKHO Website?
Yes. The NMs available online are exact copies of the paper version, and are issued weekly on a Thursday. To access NMs Online, click here.

If I print Notices to Mariners NM Blocks from this website, how can I protect the ink from smudging on NM Blocks printed on PC Printers?
1. Spray the blocks with a waterproof fixative spray available from most stationery or art shops.

2. Keep the chart in an A2 transparent wallet whilst in use in a damp or wet environment. Admiralty plastic wallets are available from Admiralty Distributors.


Can I obtain Tidal Predictions online?
Yes, using EasyTide – the UKHO’s online tidal prediction service. With information for over 6,000 ports worldwide, users can access free predictions for the week ahead as well as an extended service. EasyTide is straightforward to use and the prediction includes a tidal curve diagram.


Can I obtain tidal predictions for a specific port over a period of a year?
The Tidal Prediction Service (TPS) offers customers bespoke tidal predictions in a range of different layouts, in either digital or analogue formats, for the appropriate administrative charge.


Does the UKHO provide sponsorship to individuals or organisations taking part in yachting events?
The UKHO operates a successful sponsorship programme, providing Admiralty Charts, Publications and digital products to skippers and crews taking part in some of the world's most challenging ocean races. For more information, email: publicrelations@ukho.gov.uk.


Aside from charts and publications, does the UKHO offer any other services?
Yes. The UKHO's Marine Environment Information Centre (MEIC) supplies the Royal Navy with oceanographic products, and we also provide a consultancy service on Law of the Sea technical issues. Our Wreck Information Service is widely used and respected worldwide and contains records of over 60,000 wrecks, of which approximately 20,000 are named vessels.


Is the UKHO a regulatory body?
No. The UK regulatory body (Port State Control) is the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA). The UKHO is the principal supplier to world shipping of navigational charts and publications designed to satisfy mandatory IMO (International Maritime Organization) carriage requirements.
