The UKHO's Law of the Sea service provides expert advice on all matters
relating to the definition and delimitation of maritime space.
This expertise was established early in the last century for the provision of
expert technical advice to all UK government departments. The service was
broadened in 1996 to provide a commercial consultancy and is now available
worldwide to any government or commercial organisation. The service provides
calculation and graphic depiction of all maritime boundaries and zones,
including desktop studies of the outer limit of the Continental Shelf beyond
200 nautical miles and;

The provision of expert technical advice during Bilateral Negotiations and/or
third party adjudication of the above.

Provision of seminars and presentations to interested groups on all aspects of
Law of the Sea and Law of the Sea training.

Use of the UKHO's unparalleled resources, in the form of both its archive of
historical worldwide chart data and its first class geodetic, photogrammetric
and satellite imagery expertise.

Shared expertise and resources with the International Boundaries Research Unit
at Durham University for boundary questions and the
National Oceanography Centre at Southampton for Continental Shelf
issues.
